What is the first thing that occurs to you about Larry Hagman? Dallas? Damn right! He will always be our good old J. R. Ewing from the wealthy Texan oil company owning family. In the show, J. R. is a greedy and ruthless oil baron who is more than willing to play dirty. However, in real life Hagman was quite a philanthropist. He was committed to raising awareness of the concept of organ donation and the dangers of smoking. Larry Hagman died at the age of 81 from complications of throat cancer.
